Gibbons Rail is an accredited KIWIRAIL Tier 1 structures contractor currently working around NZ on rail projects both as main contractor and as a specialist rail subcontractor.

We have around 30 men who are Tunnel Awareness trained with experience working in KR Tunnels, including Kaimai, Otira, Rimutaka, Tunnel 2 NIMT, Tunnel 7 NMIT, Tunnel 2 NAL

Currently, we are having a crew of 6 operatives working in the KiwiRail Kaimai tunnel and a hirail operator working in Otira Tunnel.

We have 20 operators with KR Hi-Rail operator qualifications with 4 them having experience in tamping, face re-sleepering and spot re-sleepering for KR projects.

We also have 4 qualified Thermit Welders currently working on Auckland Metro and Waikato NIMT lines.

We have a team who has just completed the C8 Otahuhu project in Auckland which include formation and drainage works for 1.5km of rail tracks as well as structural strengthening works.

We have our own 5.5t & 7.5t fire suppressed Hi-Rail excavators suitable for tunnel work fitted with Harry-Built tampers, 11t fire suppressed Hi-Rail excavator suitable for tunnel work 2 Harry-Built, Hi-Rail trailers, 14T, & 23T in-house excavators, 1.7T excavators for trenching, Hi-Rail Welding twin cab small truck, loaders, Rollers and compactors, Thermit welding Gear, Towable Water blasters & generators etc and various small trucks

We are a preferred subcontractor to Total Rail Solutions and work closely with Gleeson Civil and Gleeson Group who are able to provide in-house Asbestos Removal team certified for both Class A & B type asbestos,in-house aggregate supply (Gleeson Quarries) for all types of aggregates (including ballast, Gap65, In-house managed fill (Gleeson Group) that can cater for spoil contamination levels commonly found on the rail and large scale cartage services.
