Having done a full measure and quote in April / May to Ryman approving and starting the project in mid-June 2021. Followed by the piling and excavation work by other specialist contractors the time has come for HDG to get cracking on the: Contract works starting with the site concrete, followed by the concrete formwork to the foundation in conjunction with the reinforcing fixes, then pouring and placing the concrete floors. After that they start going up the building with precast panels, columns, beams and precast flooring units. It’s a nice big job with a good structural design and one project the HDG Team is looking forward to building.

HDG are scheduled for 10 months to complete their stage of the development. This may extend a little longer due to external influences such as covid and the possibility of delays such as: reinforcing materials and precast supply which have both been a bit slow, but not significant at this stage to cause any major delays of the project on the whole. Our contract works is due for completion at the end of February 2022.The entire project is due to be completed September 2022.

To give an idea of the scale of just HDG’s portion of the development, over 10 month period they estimate that they will require an average of 24 men for the duration of the project with a peak of 30 men to meet the critical path program.

There are dual site managers; James Brady who has worked on Ryman projects before and he has the experienced Ken Dearness as his No.2. They are supported by Froilan site engineer, site foreman, leading hands and quality tradesman.

HDG has estimated: 35,000 man hours over the scheduled 10 months. With approximately 550 truck loads of concrete which equates to 3,000 cubic metres. In addition to the HDG team on-site will be a raft of HGD equipment to get the job done; formwork shutters, column formers, wall formers, to all the general construction tools needed.

This is the first time Ryman have sub-contracted this stage of the development out having previously chosen to manage the sites themselves and employ direct labour. This is good news for HDG Construction because if this project goes to plan there is another potential three blocks to be developed over the coming years.
